Nov 22/25
Today is our final stop before we head across the Atlantic.
I met Walter 7 years ago on my first Atlantic crossing. His English is very good, and he gave our group a wonderful tour of this beautiful island. He mentioned that he enjoyed fishing, so I kept that in mind should I ever return with Gary.

Today Gary headed out to sea with Walter and his father-in-law while I stayed ashore.

The Azores are a group of islands which are part of Portugal. Ponta Delgada is the largest city with around 67,000 people and came into being around 1444 AD. Tourism is an important part of their economy, and they grow some really delicious pineapples!
While the men went fishing, I explored some of the city.

This church is closed, but it has some beautiful views of the city and harbour.

From here I navigated to a thrift store where I met fellow thrifters from other ships.😊

I followed my nose to a bakery and found this cream- filled turnover dunked in chocolate for only 1 Euro!
After paying the entrance fee to the Jardim Botanical Gardens, I enjoyed my snack on a mossy bench.

On my way back to the Marina, I stopped in the San Sebastian Church where there was a Catholic Mass in Portuguese and a bit of English.

I’m happy to report that fishing was a success!

Back on board, we enjoyed a few of the 600 Portuguese tarts which the ship’s chefs ordered from a local bakery.

We also enjoyed some of the island’s delicious pineapple. We are now headed across the Atlantic and should be in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday the 29th.
Thanks for following our trip. 😊
I will plan to post one more blog this week to give you an idea of life onboard our ship.
Boa noite .
Good night in Portuguese😊
