Amalfi

I was going to entitle this post, Gravol Anyone?, but that would be unfair to the beauty around me. Let’s start at the beginning…

Today we left our Palace in Florence and headed to the train station to find that our train was delayed. Thankfully it did arrive, and we enjoyed the high speed train through the Italian countryside. Arriving in Naples, our trusty Mercedes van driver picked us up and drove us to Amalfi. He spoke not a lick of English except “no”and “voucher”. We climbed up a mountain via zig zag narrow roads, passed through a mountain tunnel, and wound down the mountain until we reached the Tyrrhenian Sea. We think he pointed out Mount Vesuvius and the ocean to us, but we were feeling pretty green by the time we arrived at the Miramalfi Hotel.

After checking in, we walked down to the town center and admired the scenery. Little shops were selling pastries, gelato, clothing, pottery, jewelry, and other souvenirs. We purchased some delicious pizza and enjoyed it on a bench by the water. After a dessert of gelato, we headed back up the mountain to our home for the next three days. Here is some scenery from yesterday’s Tuscany garden and today.

Thanks for letting us vicariously enjoy your Italian holiday. We looked at all your blog posts on the big screen this afternoon trying to ignore the snow falling outside our window. Jody and Shelley 😀

Oh wow! I hope it all showed up ok. I’ve been using my phone to do the blog with my phone instead of iPad with Gary’s photos, so it’s been a challenge. We forgot the cord to connect Gary’s camera to the iPad!😞. I hope the snow melts soon!
