Today was Keanna’s dream day. We rallied the troups and headed out to Grand Central Station this morning. The architecture was incredible and we enjoyed hanging around for an hour…cheesecake from Junior’s was a welcome snack!
Times Square was next: so many people, and so many lights, sounds, and smells!! We did a bit of shopping and made our way to the Gershwin Theater for the 2:00 showing of Wicked, the story of the Wicked Witch of the West in the Land of Oz. Some of us had seen it in London, and we agreed that this performance was even better! The cast did a spectacular job!
Ellen’s stardust diner was our destination for supper. This is the busiest diner in the Tri State area and for good reason. Their waiting staff takes turns singing all throughout the time you are there. Our waitress sang “Let it Go” from the movie “Frozen”, and she was spectacular. The food was great, and we topped it off with some salted caramel cheesecake.
We wound our way down Broadway to Central Park where we found the literary walk and sat while Brooklyn had a portrait sketch done by an artist.
The kids were were delighted to find the Balto statue as well which told the story of a heroic sled dog who helped to get diphtheria vaccine to sick children in Nome, Alaska in 1925. Back to Times Square we went to see all of the lights at night, and then a subway ride back to the condo.
