Brooklyn

Today was Brooklyn’s day. She has been wanting to step on the Brooklyn Bridge since she knew it existed. We started out by heading underground to the New York subway. We felt so accomplished when we purchases 8 metro cards and figured out how to get to the Staten Island ferry. We found Pearl street on the way. 🙂

This ferry is free, and it takes you fairly close to the Statue of Liberty. We also had a great view of the Manhattan Skyline.

After taking the ferry back to Manhattan, we made our way by subway to the Brooklyn Bridge. We enjoyed walking across and Gary took many photos of 18 year old Brooklyn on her bridge . The weather was beautiful, as was the scenery!

We spent some time at DUMBO which is a revitalized area underneath the Brooklyn Bridge. After enjoying refreshments and nachos on the patio of a Mexican restaurant, we made our way to the shopping district . Our destination was the Brooklyn Tabernacle for a 7 o’clock prayer meeting, but we did some shopping at Gap which is located right beside the church . We caught part of the amazing church service and plan to return on Sunday.

The Smoke Joint was our next destination, which is a restaurant that was featured on the tv show “Triple D”: Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. We enjoyed delicious slow roasted beef ribs, pork ribs, and corn on the cob. The Subway took us back to Manhattan, and we settled in for the night. Our townhouse is beautiful and is a welcome place at the end of a long day!
