WOW!! Gary and I are in the Christchurch airport recounting the events of today. We were stunned by the beauty we experienced on our Lord of the Rings tour. Grant, our guide, picked us up in a 4X4 this morning at 8:15 and we headed for an adventure. There were 5 of us: a young couple from Shanghai, a girl from Yorkshire, England, and ourselves.

We started in Queenstown and then headed to Glenorchy, which we found more delightful than the town of Athole that we passed through yesterday. Here are some scenes along the way:

God did some really great work when he created this area!! I do not have the faith that it takes to believe that all this happened by chance.

We enjoyed a bit of 4x4ing through river beds and they provided a picnic lunch for us as well. They do have sand flies here: I killed 31 after we got back in the vehicle after lunch.

This afternoon, we did a bit of shopping and enjoyed a huge burger from Fergburger, kind of like our Peter’s drive in in Calgary. Gary and I returned Penelope and checked in for our flight to Christchurch, and then on to Auckland. In the morning we fly to Fiji.
