It’s all Greek to me!

It’s one thing to visit a country where you can’t speak the language. It’s another when you can’t even read the alphabet. I really should learn some Greek, but we are managing…

Let’s go back a few days. On Tuesday we hauled our laundry to a place where they weigh your clothes and you pay them to wash, dry, and fold them! Voila! Ready to repack!

Gary and I visited the National Museum of Ireland which was free! The building itself was spectacular, not to mention the exhibits! I was especially intrigued with bodies that were found preserved in bogs over a long period of time.

A visit to the Church Cafe was our evening activity. The former St Mary’s church was transformed into a gorgeous eating establishment which provided excellent food, traditional music, and Irish dancing!

I admit I was overly excited when I found out that George Friderick Handel used to play this church’s pipe organ frequently when he lived in the neighbourhood. I had to touch the keys that this master composer had touched! His famous oratorio, Messiah, premiered in Dublin in April 1742.

Wednesday we had a non-eventful flight from Dublin to Athens, leaving just before heavy rains started. We thank God for some great weather at this time of year!

Today is Thursday, and our task for today was to find our pickup point for our tour to Corinth tomorrow.

It was the perfect day! Sunny, warm, no wind, 22 degrees!☀️

The Athens National garden was next to our pickup point, so we spent several hours exploring.

We had visited the Acropolis last time we were here, so after a lovely lunch of Greek food at the National Garden Café, we headed back to our room, taking Greek desserts and coffee back with us.
