It’s been a year and a half since our last trip, and in that time we have gone through a lot. Gary finished building our house, and I was treated for a malignant tumour in the lining of my brain. We have been looking forward to some time away.

We have planned to fly to Athens to take a 28 day cruise, but we made a stopover in Ireland on our way.
Our flight to Dublin went well, but of course one feels so tired after travelling all night. We weren’t able to check into our hotel until the afternoon, so we stowed our luggage at the Trinity City Hotel and went to find some lunch. We were thrilled to be treated to sunshine when we landed, because the forecast was for heavy rain.
It takes a bit of time to get used to a new country and the different ways that things are done. This city reminds me of New York City because it is very busy, and there are countless choices of what to eat and where.

Our hotel is right next to Trinity College, so there are many young people coming and going. We found a pub with some live music last night, and then we headed back to our room for an almost 14 hour sleep.
It felt so good to have a hot shower after a long rest. Yesterday we only had tepid water.
We enjoyed several hours on the Hop on Hop off bus today, and lunch at Murray’s Pub hit the spot. It was a cool day, and I had a bowl of very hot Irish stew that was delicious.

Gary enjoyed a nice Bailey’s coffee along with his meal.

Instead of a ketchup bottle on your table, they have a bowl of individual packets of condiments. My stew today was about $35 Canadian for the bowl, but they have no sales tax, and no option to tip when you pay by credit card.

Of course, when we saw The Rolling Donut, a shop featuring decadently topped sourdough donuts, we HAD to stop in. Our favourite was the White Kinder.

We look forward to another day of exploring tomorrow!
