This Old House

Back home, Gary and I are in the middle of a building project. We got our foundation done this year, and we will continue next spring. The place that we are staying in is about 300 years old. It has beautiful, rustic beams in our room, but it does have modern day plumbing, so we are grateful for that.

We have enjoyed our time at Tano’s Boutique Guesthouse. It only has 6 rooms on three floors. The fourth floor has the enjoyable breakfast room and terrace, and the fifth floor has the hot tub. There is an elevator, but Gary and I have been trying to use the stairs, including the very narrow spiral staircase going up to the roof.

Up the staircase

Grace bakes fresh croissants every morning, so we have been spoiled.

Check out their website if you like. We highly recommend it.

Yesterday I had the privilege of visiting another old house which is around 400 years old.

Casa Rocca Piccola is the only privately owned palace left in Valletta, and the Baron and his family open it up to the public for tours. I enjoyed climbing down 100 feet underneath the house into the bomb shelter which was used extensively in World War II.

Underground tunnel

A beautiful courtyard garden was our waiting area until the tour started.

The 45 minute tour was very informative, and there was so much to take in.

Gary and I enjoyed a light supper followed by gelato last night, and today we are getting ready to fly to Rome. I will update you when I can.
