Half Moon Cay, also know as Little San Salvador Island, is a privately owned island which is just one of the 700 islands that make up the Bahamas. It is about 2400 acres in size and was bought by Holland American in 1996 for $6 million USD. Carnival has since bought out Holland America, and the island transferred ownership. The Carnival Corporation owns about 10 cruise lines including Carnival, Cunard, Holland America, and Princess, so many passengers are allowed access to this little bit of paradise.
Passengers have to take a boat called a tender to get to land since there is no pier, and there we may spend the day relaxing, snorkeling, swimming, and eating lunch brought over by the ship staff. Gary stayed on board today, so I headed over to do some beachcombing, relaxing, and reading.

The water is so calm, and the beaches are powdery white.

The is the tender boat that can take up to 3oo passengers at a time.

Once back on board, Gary and I took time to appreciate the many pieces of art on board. This picture is made of feathers.

I loved the elegance of this dress made up of paper butterflies.

Let’s not forget the artists that created our food every day. This was our favorite dish, lemon shrimp linguini.

Crab cake

Every day in the Lido buffet, there is Holland America bread pudding for lunch and a fresh out-of-the-oven fruit crisp of the day for supper. We enjoyed all of the various flavors of crisps throughout the week. Yes, sometimes we would have a second dessert after our main meal. 🙂

This is a choux pastry called Hazelnut Paris Brest.

We spent many happy hours on our balcony and always tried to catch the sunset in the evening. We were saddened to come to the end of this journey, but it is time to head back north and look for signs of spring!

“Those who live at the ends of the earth stand in awe of your wonders. From where the sun rises to where it sets, you inspire shouts of joy.” Psalm 65:8 NLT
Gary and I have been privileged to see God’s handiwork up close these past ten days. May you look for His work in the people you love and the places you live.
With love until next time,
Gary and Pearl
