PS South Florida

While most of our group headed home after the cruise, Sam and Al stayed an extra week and we headed south to the FloridaKeys.

We rented a condo on Duck Key near Marathon, Florida. Why Marathon, you ask? Because it is known for great fishing!

Gary and Al spent a morning fishing on a boat from the Marina and came back with a a dozen fish.

We ate fish for a few days. 😁

We also made a trip down to Key West and ate some Key Lime pie from Kermit’s, ate gourmet ice cream from the Wicked Lick (made in front of our eyes with liquid nitrogen), and enjoyed wandering down Duval street.

Another highlight was getting fish pedicures at the Crane Point Museum and Nature Center.

Tiny fish swarmed around our feet nibbling dead skin cells, and it felt like tiny electrical shocks. I highly recommend it!

We did have a bit of a cold snap while we were there, and one morning we found a very cold reptile barely able to move at 46 degrees or 7 degrees Celsius. He warmed up as the sun came out.

From the Keys we went to the Fort Lauderdale area and enjoyed a stroll on the Dania Beach pier.

We were very entertained watching fishermen catch fish or birds (if they chased the bait). The fishermen were very good at getting the birds untangled.

Pelicans were also hanging out.

A visit to Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant was in order.

Now that’s a sundae!

Frozen Key Lime pie on a stick covered in chocolate was also consumed and was SO delicious. 😁

We also went on an airboat ride at the Sawgrass Recreation Park and got soaked by rain while looking for alligators!

After our dear friends went home, Gary and I spent a bit more time in Florida. We visited friends in the Cape Coral area and appreciated their hospitality. ❤️
