After the wedding, Gary and I headed south west to Atlanta. A five hour drive turned into six as we encountered the Atlanta night life, traffic, and construction. We were grateful to settle into our hotel for the night.
Day 7
The reason we came to Alpharetta, Georgia, was to attend church at North Pointe which is the home church of Andy Stanley. Our Bible Study group has listened to his down-to-earth, practical teaching on occasion, and so we thought we would stop in since we were in the neighborhood.
The friendly greeters seated us in the front row, just a few seats away from Andy, so we popped over to say Hi just before the service started. We enjoyed spending our Sunday morning with his church family of several thousand people. His sermons are online if you are interested: (http://northpoint.org).

We had a few hours to spend in Atlanta, so we headed over to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens (http://atlantabg.org). “The Curious Garden” was the name of their summer exhibit, and I read Latin names of plants while Gary captured them in digital form. It was hot, rainy, and humid!!
The Floating Fiddlehead

The orchid exhibit was especially unique!
Miles of chains hung in this exhibit.
The 25 foot tall Earth Goddess Exhibit is made up of thousands of individual plants that are trimmed weekly.
After our enjoyable afternoon, we set the GPS for Joe’s Crab shack and enjoyed a shrimp supper before setting our sights on Anderson, South Carolina for the night.
