Day 4 continued with the 8 day rental of our Red Dodge Journey.
We hit the road and travelled I65 to Louisville, KY and on through thoroughbred racing country to Lexington, Kentucky. The Indiana corn and soybean fields gave way to sloping, lush, green pastures and farms with seemingly endless miles of white four board fences . After a quick stop at Steak and Shake for a Cajun burger and Nutella milkshake, we made it to Durban, West Virigina, by nightfall.
Day 5
I77 took us south through Beckley where we enjoyed lunch at Tudor’s Biscuit World after I had a wonderful browse through the local antique mall. It’s a good thing we were flying home, or our vehicle would have had more than a few purchases in it!
Our interstate took us through the Appalachian mountains (Blue Ridge Mountains) which were covered with a variety of lush green trees. West Virginia gave way to Virginia, and then finally North Carolina where we spotted tobacco fields.
Corn and Soybean
After stopping by the Shelton Winery for a few more pictures, we made it to Greensboro and checked into the Comfort Inn which was a welcome change from our sketchy hotel the night before!!
Day 6
28 years ago today, Gary and I were married.
Markus was our best man, and today we enjoyed witnessing the marriage of Markus and Teresa’s son, Nik to his love, Kate!
After the lovely citrus-themed wedding, Gary enjoyed snapping a few shots of the Sedgefield Country Club, home of the PGA Wyndham Championship which will begin on August 17, 2017.
We continued our road trip that evening….
