Many of you have asked if Gary and I have been traveling, and we have, but I haven’t chronicled all of our journeys. We recently had a reason to go on a road trip, so I will share a few of our highlights.
We decided to combine two trips together: a trip to Avon, Indiana, to visit with Gary’s sister, Linda, and her husband, Dave, who have been living in this beautiful area for several years, and a trip to Greensboro, North Carolina, to witness the wedding of our friend’s son, Nik, and his bride, Kate.
With IPod in hand loaded with over 2400 of Gary’s favourite songs, we hit the road.
We flew into Indianapolis on Day 1 and started the trip with a few days of visiting Linda and Dave.
Day 2 took us to Nashville, Indiana, which is a quaint town of shops and restaurants which we wandered through. Gary took time to snap a few shops of the flowers and insects in the area.

We made a side trip to the Oliver Winery known for its beautiful gardens and picnic areas.
On day 3, the four of us went on a mini road trip through Ohio to Williamstown, Kentucky, where we visited the Ark Encounter. It is a life sized model of the ark described in the Bible and is filled with various exhibits which help to answer questions about what life aboard the ark may have been like. I highly recommend a visit to this exhibit if you happen to be in the area. Here is the link: https://arkencounter.com/
Representations of what some of the animal cages may have looked like.
Day 4 found us in downtown Indianapolis where we had a tour of the Scottish Rite Cathedral, a common wedding venue in this city. Here is the link for more information. http://www.scottishriteevents.org/
It was built between 1927-1929 at the cost of $2.5 million, and today it is insured for $100 million. The ballroom above can be rented out for events such as weddings, and the theater below hosts various concerts or performances. The replacement value of the 2500 pound German-made chandelier in the ballroom is $3 million. They carefully clean it once a year! 🙂
Stay tuned for more!!
