Hudut?

Friday January 30

Motivation was not a word that described us today. Lazy might be a better adjective. We wandered down to the Garimaya gift shop to do a bit of shopping, and then continued on our morning walk. Gary took some pictures of our beautiful home for the week:

At noon we visited the Lebeha drumming center for a traditional Belizean lunch of Hudut. We watched as a mixture of green and ripe mashed plantains was pounded into a substance called Fu-fu. This was then served with fish cooked in coconut milk. It was very tasty despite its odd-looking appearance.

We were treated to a very active and interactive drumming performance.

Otherwise, we have been winding down our visit and getting ready to head to the airport tomorrow morning. We have enjoyed our time at Los Mangoes! If you are looking to enjoy a cultural experience in a very friendly village in the Caribbean, Hopkins is the place to be!

Tomorrow we drive to Belize City, fly back to Houston, and overnight there. Sunday we head back to Calgary and then on to Medicine Hat. Perhaps we will be able to catch part of the Super Bowl on our way.

Thanks for following this adventure to Central America!

We are grateful to God for the chance to see more of His Creation!

Gary and Pearl
