The Big Apple

You know that feeling when you leave on a trip and you think that you are forgetting something but you don’t know what it is? I didn’t have that feeling. However, it became clear to us that we had forgotten something: the adapter and cords that were needed to transfer Gary’s fantastic pictures from his camera to my iPad. I may add them to the blog once we get home, but for now, I will see what my iPhone can produce.

We arrived safely in New York late Monday afternoon. The sky is blue here, too! I was expecting more smog, but there is not much to be seen. After hugs with our reunion with Sam, Al, Parker, and Brooklyn, we headed out to see what we could see. The Hamiltons had arrived this morning from Halifax, so they had already put on several km of walking the streets.

We ate a hot dog and pretzel from a street vendor, walked all the way to Central Park from our Murray Hill condo, and enjoyed a horse drawn carriage ride through Central Park at sunset.

On a quest for more food, we found some delicious cooked lamb with a pita and rice from a street vendor, and we ended up with refreshing gelato in various flavors. Back at our townhouse, we figured out the sleeping arrangements and headed to bed for a much needed sleep since most of us had been up at 3:30 this morning.
